Dec 30 – Jan 2
New Year on the Thar dunes
Two nights in a private luxury bivouac, a fire-lit Manganiyar concert at midnight, four-by-four into the dunes for the year's first sunrise.

The desert in winter is cold in a way that people consistently underestimate: warm afternoons, and nights that drop towards freezing with nothing between the dunes and the sky.
Manganiyar musicians have played nights like this for their patrons for generations, and hearing them at a fire in the open is a different proposition from hearing them in a hotel courtyard. Sunrise on the first is the reason for the dates.
The shape of it

Manganiyar at midnight
A fire-lit concert as the year turns, from musicians whose families have played nights like this for their patrons for generations.
Day 3
First sunrise
Four-by-four into the dunes before light for the first sunrise of the year, and then back.
