Keoladeo was built as a duck shoot for the rulers of Bharatpur and is now a World Heritage site — an entirely man-made wetland that becomes one of Asia's great winter bird sites in the years the water is managed well.
Painted stork, sarus crane, spoonbill, and ducks and raptors in numbers. It is walked or cycled rather than driven, which is why it rewards a naturalist who knows the park and several unhurried mornings rather than one long visit.

The shooting box
Into the nineteenth-century shooting box, built for the rulers of Bharatpur and now the stay. First light is the whole point here, so the first evening is short.
Day 2
First morning in the park
Keoladeo is walked and cycled rather than driven, which is why it rewards a naturalist who knows it and an unhurried pace.
Day 3
Second morning
