A central-Delhi heritage stay, dinner at the dargah's lane shops, sit-on-the-floor seats for the Thursday qawwali — one of the city's oldest unbroken rituals.
Qawwali has been sung at this dargah more or less continuously since Amir Khusro was writing it in the fourteenth century, and Thursday evening is when the shrine fills for it.
The lanes leading in are narrow and full of food, which is half the evening before it is anything else. This is a working shrine rather than a venue: cover your head, sit on the floor, and keep the camera down.
