Mawsmai is the lit, walkable cave near Sohra — a few hundred metres of limestone passage you can do in ordinary shoes, with the formations close enough to touch and a couple of squeezes to keep it honest. It is the introduction rather than the destination.
The serious systems lie east of here in the Jaintia hills, where cavers have mapped some of the longest passages in the subcontinent and are still finding new ones most seasons. Meghalaya's rainfall is what dissolved all of it.
